Because you don’t look like you like that kind of music? Or because you listen to completely different genres? For example, I love extreme metal(Gorgoroth,Behexen,Cryptopsy,Morbid Angel…things like that),but I also love latin(Chavela Vargas,Lola Beltran,Aida Cuevas,Maria Lourdes) and 80s pop(Duran Duran,Pet Shop Boys,Culture Club,a-ha,The Human League)
Now,I look like a metalhead,so when people hear that I like things like latin and 80s pop music they’re usually shocked,because they don’t think a person who likes metal would like those genres as well.

im like anything before the 21st cetuary. barely any of my friends have even heard of nirvana, led zepplin, pink floyd, or any of the greatest musicians. it kinda annoys me.
but back to your question, its fairly well known that im obsessed with classic rock to metal music. but im actually really getting into blues music, i really apreciate the guitar and i feel so good when im listining to it (b.b king, stevie ray voughan). glad to see there are some other youths who respect music thats not as appreciated today.

well i’m kinda preppy and where i go to school preps dont listen to anything besides dance and pop music
but i hate that any time any of that music comes on i put on my ipod and listen to Scary Kids, Senses Fail, Escape The Fate, or Pierce The Veil

Oh yeah i get that, i’m just your average girl, but i really like slightly screamo bands like Bullet For My Valentine, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Demon Hunter…etc. I also like indie bands like The Kooks and The Sea and Cake…and then i like acoustic bands like Angus and Julia Stone, Obadiah Parker, etc…But then I also really like… *cringe* Lady GaGa.
But people don’t expect that from me which is cool coz I always surprise them =)

Of course of course. This is because music reflects the essnce of your soul. Which clearly, not everyone can see. Like Ilisten to heavy alternative but then also really indie, calm music. And even some funk. It’s because of what you grow up around, who you are, who you were, what you want to be, etc.

Yes I have had that happen. I like a lot of different types. I like pretty much everything except country. A lot of people have been shocked that I listen to Hard Rock or Rap. They say I don’t look like I would like that type of music. Whatever that means. LOL.

Yes.
To mainstream idiots, they are surprised I can’t stand bands like AFI, Marilyn Manson, or My Chemical Romance because I wear a lot of black and have a mohawk.
Other people are surprised to find out I like hip-hop and classical.
