Does Mexico’s new line up have a chance …?

Goalkeeper: Guillermo Ochoa (America), Jesus Corona (UAG Tecos), Oscar Perez (Cruz Azul).

Defenders: Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart), Aaron Galindo (Guadalajara Chivas), Francisco Rodriguez (PSV Eindhoven), Hector Moreno (AZ Alkmaar), Edgar Duenas (Toluca), Carlos Salcido (PSV Eindhoven), Oscar Rojas (America).

Midfielders: Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul), Pavel Pardo (America), Israel Castro (UNAM Pumas), Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham), Fernando Arce (Santos), Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruna).

Forwards: Carlos Vela (Arsenal), Alberto Medina (Guadalajara Chivas), Cuauhtemoc Blanco (Chicago Fire), Nery Castillo (Shakhtar Donetsk), Miguel Sabah (Morelia), Guillermo Franco (Villarreal), Jose Maria Cardenas (Pachuca), Carlos Esquivel (Toluca).
Okay, "If" Mexico doesn’t win there match. What excuse are they going to use? You can’t blame coach and you can’t say the players. What else is there?
The only thing I could see is, the Team chemistry. They need to know each other as a Team. Watch video or do something like train. But, it’s impossible when there only given little time to know each other.

Essentially the same players, but Mexico should win every match with Mario Carrillo as coach.

I’ll leave the excuses to the whinny Americans.

yes! i think they do because he is a great coach with enough credit to make any non-believer re-think. Also, although i dont like that Oswaldo Sanchez is not in the line-up, i like old players are brought back. They are not just some old waste. Mexico has always had experience in their squad. Errikson failed because of the lack of experience and knowledge of mexican players. im so sure they are going to turn their tables around that i have bet my friend 100 dollars that they will go undefeated starting this game!

That’s a great pool of players to choose from but the problem has been that no coach has been able to mould a great team out of it. Hopefully Javier Aguirre has the personality that both Erikkson and Hugo were lacking to inspire the confidence the players have been lacking and get the team to function together as a unit.

The only challenge now is whether there is enough time for all the players to adapt to yet another system of play. Javier Aguirre is a pretty practical coach so I don’t think he’s gonna mess around with too many experiments like Erikkson did.

i htink it’s a good line up and they should be ablew to win. i doubt they will loose. and if they do loose everybody is to blame. [[ Players, Coach, the training.. Etc. ]]

They should win. The squad is descent…with the exception of the defense. It looks a bit weak. Remember, Salcido is suspended and Rafa is out on IR. You have Osorio, which if he plays as he did in Cruz Azul (Sweeper), it should be better than him playing in the wings. Galindo didn’t really impress last game against Honduras. Magallon isn’t really at the top of his game as he was before his injury. Hector Moreno and Duenas should be a nice addition. Don’t get me started on Maza! He is clumsy, he doesn’t play in PSV, he barley warms the bench.

The Mid and Forwards look solid. If they can learn to open the field with Guardado and Dos Santos, have them lobbing the passes to Nery and Vela then they should have no problem in their next game.

    We will see!

@tacillon: That’s true…my bad! I got so worked up knowing that he called Maza that i didn’t pay close attention to the defense. I just get flash backs! haha

To me, it seems like a good bunch of players he called. Obviously the only one I dislike is Guille Franco, not only cause he is a naturalizdo but because he just plain sucks. Like said before, its practically the same players from past convocatorias, but now its Aguirres strategy and see if he can make them play like they have to. With the addition of Temo, i think finally we can do something up top, we need a play maker.

IF they loose, well we cant really tell what would be the reason right? The game hasnt been played yet…..

oh and to Chuy: Magallon didnt get called up

Idk about the rest of these ppl, but this squad looks pretty balanced to me. Sure we wont have a couple of players that were used to starting in the defense..but the defenders called up should be able to fill in for a game. The midfield looks solid, i wana see pavel and torrado in the middle…and gio/arce and guardado on the wings.

Up top i wanna see vela and nery and im pretty sure that is what its gonna be. then in the second half bring in cuauh, lets face it, this dude is great but he cant be a starter on el tri.

this is my line up…and remembrer, you saw it here first…

    ———corona———–
    oscar rojas—maza rodriguez—galindo—moreno
    gio—–pavel pardo—-torrado—-guardado
    ———nery——-vela——

And IF mexico doesnt win, there is no excuse. I never make excuses for them, i admit we played like crap vs honduras and we deserved to lose. If we lose, then idk what were gonna do.

Im prolly gettin thumbs down becasue i said cuauh cant be a starter…well its the truth, im a huge fan of his..but we cant be relyin on a 35 year old dude..in my mind his role has changed, he is a second half sub. he cant go 90 mins
    anymore.

EDIT: it is the team chemistry, because man for man we have better players. This is why i think the gold cup will do us good…maybe playing in a tournament with a consistent team will help us out cuz we got other qualifying games right after the gold cup.

I defently dint like the players theirs alot of players who are playing better and have plaing time in their team than this half time soccer players…… I THINK THE COACHES NEEDS TO CREATE A TEAM WHO IS AGRASSIVE, THAT ARE NOT AFRAID OF SCORING THAT HAVE PASSING AND SPEED AND WITH THIS GROUP OF TEAM I DONT SEE THAT COULD HAPPEN!!!

This is a team that will be designed to go after a 5th game and not a WC final.

How can you create chemistry when you have the 2 main suspects that create conflict. Nery and Blanco

I would rather have a team that will give their all instead of a bunch of primadonnas that care about themselves first.

Aguirre is the one that chose them so he can easily be blamed.

This is not the best Mexico has to offer, (quality football players) but a mere capricho by Aguirre.

    Corona
    Osorio, Dueñas, Salcido
    Arce/Venado, Torrado, Pavel, Guardado
    Blanco
    Giovanni/Nery, Vela/Sabah/Franco

They need a true "9". Bravo is the best foreward but isn’t good enough to compete at the worldwide level. And they really gotta try a different formation other than the 4-4-2. They need to mess around with the players they have with more friendlies and try out and see what works. I personally like 3-4-1-2, with Guardado and Arce or Venado on the wings. They would have to really run alot, though, running back for the defense as to make it into 5 defenders instead of 3. And either Pavel or Torrado would attack like a 2nd enganche along with Blanco while the other covers the midfield and slows any attack while the other sprints back to help defend as well. It would require alot of sacrifice by the midfield but i think it truly would be effective.

honestly i dont like his roster……a lot of players he picked are injured or recovering from an injury so they wont be at top level……i think people just overestimate the european players he couldve gotten better players playing in mexico at TOP form…..to me it seems like he got desperate and just decided to call up all the europeans just like errikson….:( here we go again.
